Building healthier communities through active lifestyles

Moda Health and the Trail Blazers recently wrapped up this year’s Rip City Rally — a five-city tour that invited communities in Eastern Oregon to experience the excitement of the Blazers’ new NBA season and educate them about the health benefits of living active lifestyles.

Now in its seventh year, Moda Health and the Blazers teamed up with Delta Dental, ODS Community Dental, the Eastern Oregon Coordinated Care Organization (EOCCO), Oregon Education Association (OEA), the Dental Foundation of Oregon’s Tooth Taxi, and other local partners to talk to kids about how staying active and good oral hygiene can help build healthier communities.

“It starts with kids,” said Moda Senior Vice President, Robin Richardson. “Encouraging kids’ activities, skills and play; all of those things are key to helping communities.”

The weeklong rally kicked off in Baker City and moved to La Grande and Hermiston before heading to The Dalles. The last stop was in Sandy on Sept. 13. Each stop was packed with a full day of high-energy events, including a school assembly and a free community fair with family games and activities.
