5 ways to savor summer with your family

Summer is a great time to get healthy and stay healthy. Here are five ways to savor the season and stay diet-smart.

Drink water, and lots of it. Make it even more refreshing by adding mint leaves, lime, lemon or frozen fruit.

Visit farmers markets, and treat your family to what’s fresh.

Grow your own garden. Don’t have space to spare? Try planting in pots or joining a community plot.

Get your fill of fruits and veggies before eating the rest of your meal. One way is to fill a bowl with a lettuce mix and add protein to the top.

Get out the grill! Throw on lean options like chicken or turkey burgers, vegetables and fruits. Add more flare with different seasonings.
