With flu season almost here, we encourage you to make preventive care a priority. And we’ll help.

Your Moda Heath plan covers lots of preventive services — like flu shots, regular doctor visits and important health screenings — that can help you keep doing more of what you love. And we think that’s worth a woohoo!

It’s almost flu season! Get your flu shot.
Did you know that getting your flu shot by November can protect you and others from getting the virus? Doctors recommend getting the vaccine before the flu peaks — between December and February — to stay healthy throughout the flu season.

Here are a few ways to get your flu shot:

• Local pharmacy: Several neighborhood pharmacies, such as Walgreens and Rite Aid offer flu shots. Call or stop by to see if they have the flu vaccine in stock.
• Supermarket: Many supermarket chains have pharmacy departments. Check with your local supermarket to find out if they offer walk-in flu shots.
• Work: Like Moda Health, many companies hold flu shot clinics. This is a fast and convenient way to get the vaccine while you are at work. Check with your HR department to find out if they offer flu shots to employees.

Thinking about getting your COVID-19 vaccine too?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people can safely get both the flu shot and the Covid-19 vaccine at the same time. Katie Scheelar, senior clinical pharmaceutical programs manager at Moda Health, strongly encourages people getting the flu shot to also get the Covid-19 vaccine if they are due for both.

“I think the flu shot is something people are used to getting at their doctor’s office or local pharmacy every year,” she said. “The good part is, you can safely get your Covid vaccines at those sites, too.”

Both the flu and Covid-19 vaccines are 100% covered by all Moda Health plans when getting your shots at an in-network pharmacy.
