Fall 2023

Proudly giving back to our community

One of our pillars of corporate giving is building healthier communities across Oregon. Partnering with local organizations to promote the benefits of healthy, active lifestyles and support communities in need, these programs allow us to get out of the office and meet the people and communities we so proudly serve.

This year, The Trail Blazers, Moda Health, and Delta Dental made their way across Oregon to inspire healthy lifestyles and celebrate the places we all share and call home.

Here’s a peak at where we were and the different ways we engaged with the community.

Rip City Rally

In September, the 9th Annual Rip City Rally visited five great communities, including La Pine, Lakeview, Klamath Falls, Medford and Cottage Grove, to celebrate the Portland Trail Blazers’ 2023-24 season. Reps from Moda and the Blazers, along with the always-entertaining mascots Blaze the Trail Cat and Douglas “Dougy” Fur, filled their days with school assemblies, Physical Education takeovers, high school career panels, and city fairs. Thousands came out for some free family fun, which included exciting giveaways, basketball lessons, and a Move with Moda Challenge to inspire kids of all ages to stay active and healthy.

Back-to-school backpack giveaways

Our longtime partnership with Schoolhouse Supplies helps students in underserved Portland communities get free school supplies before every school year. This year, Moda Health volunteers prepacked 1,250 backpacks filled with much-needed school supplies for every student at Glenfair and Rigler elementary schools. The backpacks and some donated playground balls were delivered to the kids in early September to kick off the new school year.

Moda Assist Program

Each year, we team up with the Trail Blazers to raise money to build an all-abilities playground in a deserving community in Oregon. This year’s winning city of the Moda Assist Program funds was Tillamook, Oregon. While it can take upwards of a year or more to complete a new playground, we presented a check for $35,360 (based on our combined $20 donation for every Blazers’ on-court assist) for a new all-inclusive playground at Coatsville Park.
